Three very special award recipients honored in San Diego

If you were one of the 1600+ archivist colleagues in San Diego last week, I hope you agree with me that it was a pretty fantastic conference. Speaking as a diehard cheerleader for my home state of California, I’ll admit that the location wasn’t the only reason that it was so great. 🙂 The Host Committee, led by the fabulous Ardys Kozbial of the University of California at San Diego, did an incredible job providing us all with a terrific experience, as did everyone else involved. Today in San Diego: the rockin’est plenary ever!

The SAA Annual Meeting began with a celebratory air this morning as we honored five new distinguished Fellows at Plenary I: Scott Cline, Peter Gottlieb, Nancy Lenoil, Tim Pyatt, Ben Primer. As so often happens, you may be saying to yourself “Huh? They weren’t already Fellows?” The moral of this story is … take the time to nominate your most impressive colleagues for this wonderful honor. Keep the Fellowship flowing. Continue reading

Do you care about the Annual Meeting?

I sure hope so! It’s an amazing playground for those of us who love being archivists, connecting with like-minded colleagues, being exposed to more learning than our brains  can possibly hold (umm, I speak only for myself), and generally having a fantastic time. The first year I attended the SAA conference I felt like a kid in a candy store. So many alluring sessions! Hundreds of fascinating archivists! Such excellent work being done!
